Super Sunday

The kids had their last day of hockey last Sunday. It is called Super Sunday and they have a game against the other team at their same ability level. The kids had a great time!
Isaac wanted to score a goal so bad, but the kids kept knocking him down. It wasn't on purpose, they just fell into him. He played really well and seemed to have fun. He was even goalie for a while and blocked a couple shots. He got a bronze medal because the other team won 4-2.
Declan scored 4 goals in his game. He had a great time and played really well, too. His team won 6-2. He got a gold medal. This is his last year as a Termite. He will be moving up to Mites next year and play with the 7-9 year old kids. He is a bit nervous, but he will do just fine with them.

Snowman

This winter has been a bad winter for giving us packable snow to make a snowman. Since it has started to melt, we could get some snow together and pat it enough to form a ball. We tried this technique a month ago and the snow would not stay together. You can roll the ball only if you do lots of patting as you roll. It was a big job, but we got the snowman made. Here is Declan by the snowman, it was his idea to try to make one.
Both kids by the snowman. It is hard to see his spiked hair made out of sticks, but that was Isaac's idea. We also used sticks for the eyes, nose, and mouth. It was getting dark and we didn't know what else to use. You can see it isn't very big and the kids are on their knees. It was alot of work and we did the best we could with the light we had outside. The new daylight savings time sure helped us, though.
Of course, the very next day it rained on our snowman. We didn't get much rain, but it was enough to kill our snowman. We made one 2 years ago with my 2 nephews and it rained the next day after making that one. Declan and I decided we just shouldn't make anymore because it brings rain.

Happy Birthday to me!

Yes, I had to celebrate a birthday this year, too. I turned 33 on Friday and I must say it was a great day! We had hockey games to watch in Grand Forks. Greta's family was there with us on Friday and Saturday and Mary's family was there on Saturday. Jeff was so sweet and had a cake ordered for me to have in the suite. I took a picture with all the kids and my cake and they loved being a part of it. Thank you very much, Jeff. I love you!

We had a great weekend with friends in our suite and it was a perfect way to celebrate my birthday! Greta and Mary, it was a blast being with you last weekend and thank you very much for my birthday presents! Just for the record, our kids are growing up way too fast!

Thank you also to my friends and family who remembered me on my birthday! I loved the calls, cards, emails, and presents from everyone! You all made my day very special and memorable! Thanks!

Tired Boys

After you go swimming and bowling in one day, this is how your kids will look at the hockey game in the evening. They were exhausted and faught to stay awake the whole game. The ride home, they gave in and slept all the way home.
Sometimes when you are tired, you just have to sit with your mom. Mom loves those moments!

Bowling!

We took the kids bowling in Grand Forks to pass the time on Saturday afternoon. Sometimes swimming all day gets boring when you do it 11 weekends a winter, so we find other things to do. Here is Isaac waiting for his ball.
I caught Declan by surprise with this photo.

Brothers
Declas starting to get bored at the end of the 2nd game. He got 3 strikes in the 2nd game and almost beat me!
Isaac was also getting bored.

Pictures from above

From our balcony of the motel room, we can see the fish in the pond. This motel has 5 hot tubs that are around this water area. The kids have to check out the fish every day. We let them go down by themselves while we watched from the balcony for the first time. They were very good and really liked the freedom. Here they are checking out the fish and picking out their favorite ones.
You have to walk across the bridge at least twice while you are looking at the fish. At least, it seems like that is a rule for them.
I had the kids stand under the balcony and look up at me. I thought it was a fun picture that you don't take everyday.

Cushion Lounge Chair

We usually have a suite at our motel in Grand Forks that has a pull-out bed. The kids think the cushions to the couch are fair game for playing when the bed is pulled out. On this weekend, Jeff and I were out on the balcony eating breakfast (the balcony is on the inside of the building) and we walked into the room to find the kids like this watching Spongebob. They set up the cushions and made their own cushion lounge chair. They have the best imaginations!

Sleeping Angels!

I always check on the kids before I go to sleep and on this night, this is how I found Isaac. You can see the corner of his pillow in the top right corner. He was curled up on all his stuffed animals. He has to sleep with every animal he owns on the side of his bed. Every once in a while we have to stuff them to the side so he has room to sleep. This was so cute, I just had to try my night vision feature on my camera. It took a great shot!
Declan doesn't have near as many animals in his bed because he fell out of his bed once when he had too many. He didn't like that and got scratched up from the rough surface walls, so he only has his favorites.
