Asha

We got a puppy on Sunday. We picked her out 2 weeks ago, but had to wait until she was 8 weeks old to take her home. She is 1/2 Golden Retreiver and 1/2 Poodle or called a Goldendoodle. Declan came up with the name Asha and we all liked it. Pronounce it with the first vowel as a short "o" sound like in stop. How can you not love that face?
She is doing pretty well in the house and getting used to things. Juno, our 5 yr. old dog, does not like her and is dealing with her in Juno's house. I think she secretly hopes we are dog sitting and the dog will be going home soon. The cats dislike her and just hiss at her no matter what. They will smell her when she is asleep and that is about it.

Isaac took this picture of Asha and me, but I look horrible in this picture. Oh well.

Declan's Small World Program

Declan's class performed a Small World Program. Each child had to choose a country to represent and dress like they lived in that country. Declan chose Switzerland because his Aunt Noemie was born and raised there. He has always been fasinated listening to her speak Swiss-German to her boys. The children colored a flag for their country and had to write facts about that country that would be interesting to the listeners. Here is what Declan chose to talk about for Switzerland.

I ordered the shirt for him on the internet because it just worked for us. We thought the shorts would sort of look like lederhosen like they wear or used to wear. He had long socks to wear up to his knees to finish the outfit, but decided not to wear them. The hat was Grandma Lorna's and she added the feather in it. I think we did okay with his outfit if I do say so myself.

The music teacher taught the children different songs and dances for several of the countries the kids chose. He told the kids he could not do all the countries. He paired Switzerland with kids that chose Germany for this song and it was called the German Clapping Song. Declan just cracked me up when he was doing the spinning with his head up in the air and his eyes closed and his smirk on his face. He told me it was good to put his stuff with Germany because of the language Aunt Nomi speaks. I could not download the video for this whole song and I don' t know why. I tried 3 times yesterday, so sorry you only get part of the song. They repeated the parts that you are seeing 3 times in the song. Declan is usually my kid who hates performing and doesn't want to do programs. He was excited about this one and very proud of himself when it was over. He had a great teacher this year and had an excellent year. I am so proud of him!
