Easter Sunday- He is Risen!

Justin (nephew), Isaac, Declan, and Jason (nephew). My kids also told me this year that Jeff and I are the Easter bunny and that there is no real Easter bunny. Man, my kids are getting too old. So, we hid eggs before the cousins came so they could all hunt. We have like 78 plastic eggs for them to find and they found them all. I think they were done in about 5 minutes and were eating the candy.

We hosted my side of the family for lunch and Jeff's parents for supper. It was our first holiday hosting in the new house and a big success. The food turned out really good and everyone had a great time.

Saturday before Easter

The kids and I got together with friends to color our Easter eggs. The moms figured we could have all the mess in one place and the kids would have a good time. We were right, the kids had a great time. Here are the eggs Isaac colored.

We also went to the Mall to see what they have for kids. The boys had no interest in doing any of the little kid crafts, so we took pictures with the Easter bunny and went home. Here is Isaac.

Declan told me he was too old to have his picture taken with the Easter bunny, so I told him that was totally fine. Then he saw the kids get a egg with candy after their picture and he changed his mind. I have a feeling this will be my last picture of Declan with the Easter bunny.

Snowforts

We got over a foot of snow today and it was wet and heavy. The boys and I built snow forts while Jeff cleared the driveway with the snowblower.

Here is Isaac in his fort. They aren't very big because we all got hot and sweaty making them. Plus, I am getting over a bad cold and get out of breath easily. They liked them and that is all that matters.
Declan in his fort. Below is the movie of the snowball fight after the forts were built. They had a great time!

HandPrint Lilies

We spent part of our snow storm, no school day making HandPrint Lilies. We got the idea out of the Family Fun magazine, April issue. The kids trace their hands and cut them out. Then I drew the leaves and we cut them out. Then you just tape everything to a straw. They turned out really cute and each kid is giving one to each grandmother for Easter. Here are Isaac's Lilies, he colored his handprints to give his flowers more color.
Declan's Lilies, he chose to leave his white.

Playing with the camera

I took out the camera to take a picture of the 2 cats laying on the stuffed animals and then we started having fun taking pictures last night. Our white cat, Fluffy, is on the brown stuff animal and then Trouble, calico cat is by herself on the right.
Declan is watching hockey on TV. There isn't anything else on our TV unless Spongebob happens to be on.

Declan and Trouble

Isaac and Trouble. She lets the kids pick her up all the time and doesn't care. She is the only cat that lets the kids do that.

Funny!

I don't know why Isaac wanted his picture taken like this, but he did.

Me and the kids. Ignore my hair, I am thinking of growing it out and it is getting too long to do anything with right now.

Isaac's face

Declan's face. He was trying to hide his face behind a box and not let me get his face. I am patient.

Then we rested on the cough together and watched more hockey. It sure was fun taking silly pictures.

Awards Night 2009

There is also an awards night for the Mites (Declan's league) and Termites (Isaac's league).

The kids get a free hotdog, chips and pop at awards night. When you are 7 and 8 years old, you don't eat with your parents. You hang out under the stairs with all your friends and eat your meal talking silly.
Sorry, I thought I got this one straight. Declan getting his awards. He got a certificate for participation in the program, a 50 hours club puck for skating 50 hours outside of practices, and a 75 hours club T-shirt . He actually skated 92.25 hours outside of scheduled practices, but they stop at 75. He was so proud of himself!

Isaac getting his awards. He also got a participation certificate, a 25 hours club puck and a 50 hours club T-shirt. The termites get to skate less hours for the puck and T-shirt. He actually skated 77.25 hours outside of his practices. He was also very proud!

There is a mom that has a son on Declan's league that has an expensive camera with the huge lens. She took a bunch of pictures during the season and gave some moms the disk of them. This was my favorite picture that she got of Declan.

Super Sunday 2009

The kids had their very last hockey game on March 22nd. They call the day Super Sunday. It is a big deal for the younger kids to have this game and have it televised and shown on TV later. We buy the DVD of it from the TV station also.
Isaac's team ended in a tie in his game, but they played their hearts out. Isaac is number 7.
He loves playing center and doing the face-offs.

He also played goalie for a goal. They don't wear all the goalie pads until he gets in the level Declan is in right now. He also likes being a goalie.. HELP!

Isaac's team and coaches. He is in front and center of the photo.

All kids who play in the game get a gold medal on Super Sunday.

Like the non-smile for being a hockey player?

Declan was still fighting his cold and recovering from being in the hospital a week before this game, so he played goalie. He is a pretty good goalie and that doesn't help me to not be a goalie mom. I am not really sure I can handle people blaming the game on my kid if he is goalie. Let's hope his desire to score goals will still won.

Declan also got a gold medal. His team did lose his game and they did a shoot out for the kids to make it more fun. They loved having a shoot out like the pros do.
