Soccer!

Isaac is so happy he is finally old enough to try the sports his brother has been doing for the past year or so. He is in Soccer right now on Tuesday and Thursday evenings for about an hour. At this age they are just getting the kids familiar with kicking the ball and play a bunch of games.
He has so much fun and it exhausted that night and the next day. I bet it is fun to actually play the game and not just watch his brother play the game.
Isaac says his favorite thing about soccer is, "to be the shark" in a game they play. He also enjoys the game where some kids have a tail with a jersey and the others have to chase the tails and take them away.

More progress

They are done putting up the concrete walls for the garage (left) and the basement (right). This afternoon they are going to starting doing the plumbing for the in-floor heat. They are going to starting pouring the concrete floor next week sometime. Now, if there were women doing this construction, they would not have left their bobcat in the way of taking a picture of the house. I had to stand on the clay piles to be able to take this picture and get the whole thing in. This was the best I could do because I ran out of pile and could not back up anymore.
The huge clay piles are still on the lot because of the road restrictions. I guess they put weight restrictions on the roads in the spring. The boys love playing in the clay piles, especially this one where it looks like there is a big hole in it. I didn't realize you could see my shadow above the kids' shadows when I took this picture.

It is starting to look more like a house and a huge house. Just think we have 2 more levels of house to put up after this one.

We have walls!

It is starting to look like a house now! I guess the basement walls will be done today which seems odd. Here is Jeff and Isaac waving to me up on a hill taking the picture.
Here is a good view of the walls with me and Declan in the background.
Declan found a fort behind the walls by where the garage will be.
This is Isaac sitting in the turret.
Here is just another view.

Farm Boys

The kids have been begging me since Declan's program when Grandpa brought up gopher trapping to take them to the farm. I took them on Sunday while Jeff stayed home and got some things done. Grandma and I stayed around the house and visited while the boys and Grandpa went gopher trapping. I went once and it was BORING! They love it and look forward to helping Grandpa get the gophers out of his fields. After the all exciting gopher trapping, the kids talked Grandpa into playing baseball with them. Isaac is getting pretty good at hitting the ball.
Declan is in the green batting. You can see the 2 dogs anxiously waiting for him to hit the ball so they could go fetch it. You have to play ball outside the fence at the farm or Dixie (gray dog) will take it away. She doesn't believe in a ball being played with without her being involved. It was funny watching the dogs and listening to Dixie whine until a kid hit the ball.
Declan batting

There were Eagles flying around at the farm yesterday too and I was able to get some pictures of them with my camera. Now, I zoomed in on the pictures as much as I could, too, but they are near. This was a bald Eagle in the sky, but you cannot see his white in this photo so well.
We think this was a Golden Eagle because the white isn't on his body. But then again his head looks like it is turning white, so we don't know. It was still cool watching them and trying to get pictures of them.
This is also the questionable Golden Eagle on a tree. We walked out into the horse's pasture to get this one. He is too big to be a young Bald Eagle becoming white so we are just calling this one the Golden Eagle for now.

Ice Push

Ottertail Lake is where the cabin is in our family. We saw on the news Friday night that the wind blew some impressive piles of ice onto shore. This is quite common on this huge lake. Jeff took the kids out to the lake to see it on Saturday. We have seen bigger piles, but it was really neat to the kids. I don't remember the last time we saw these piles in May or ice still on the lake in May. What a strange year!

Getting to start again

We went out to the lot last Thursday after Declan's program with the grandparents to see what was going on. It was so windy that day with the storm coming that night. The guys were bringing the pallets of concrete block down into the house hole. They were going to start the basement walls Friday, but Fergus Falls for 1.5 inches of rain Thursday and Friday instead.
That's a lot of concrete blocks!

Declan's 1st Grade Spring Program

Here is Declan singing in his program. He knew we were video taping him and he would give us this embarrassed look quite often. I was practically bawling the whole time because I was so darn proud of him. I am such a sap! If you cannot find him, where Jeff did a close up in the video, he is in a green shirt with yellow baseball players on the front and his spiked hair.

This song was called Chicken Little and was really cute. The kids are sitting on the floor with parents in chairs. Jeff is standing in the back trying to get things on video. It was hard to totally see what all of the kids were doing with their instruments, but it is close enough. Declan is playing the drum for this song. He was so cute when he was doing it and made a sheepish face many times when he was done. He seemed to have a good time in his program.
