Steel Floor

Sept.8th- Jeff and his dad got some test pieces cut for the floor this week. They cut the first pieces out of thin steel because the good stuff will be really heavy. We are going to have celestial shapes cut out of the steel when it is all done, too.
It will be more of a blackish color when it is all finished off and not so shiny.
Here is me laying on the floor again taking a picture of these beams. The beam wrapped in alder with the steel floor above it will look really nice. We are very excited!

They also started on the back deck yesterday, but we forgot the camera again last evening. I will just have to take a photo of the finished product later today.

Lots Happening

Sept. 6th- Where do I start? There are so many things going on at once at the house and I have been waiting to take pictures until they are done with each project. Well, I am taking pictures of each stage when I am out there, but waiting for the blog stuff. Here is what got accomplished last week.
Our cabinetry guy got the beams wrapped in the alder. They look really nice, too.
The driveway was put in. The narrow part on the left side of the photo is what it looks like all the way to the road. They did a really nice job and I think it is plenty big.
The wall units for the boys' rooms are mostly installed. This is Declan's wall unit. He is standing in front of his desk area where he can do homework and stuff. Then the 2 big open boxes on the top are going to be adjustable book shelves. My dad made something similar for my brother and I when our room were redone when we were kids. I liked the idea so much that Jeff and I designed them for our kids. Plus, we don't have to have a desk in their rooms taking up lots of space.
Here is Isaac's wall unit. His doesn't take up the whole wall because his door opens up to the left of the wall unit. Don't worry, they are exactly the same size, just placed differently.
This is the vanities for the kids' bathroom. In between the vanities, there will be a pocket door. The side Isaac is on is where the shower and toilet stuff will be. Now, we won't have to fight about who is in whos way for the sink when brushing teeth. Let's hope!

Our living room is painted and you can see lights have started to be installed.
Here is our bedroom with its swing arm light on the wall and our ceiling fan. There will be another swing arm light for the other side of our bed. It was scratched and dented and returned.
Here is the upper level of the turret ceiling fan. It is hard to tell from this photo, but around the light is all steel. Jeff saw this light and knew where it was going instantly.

First Day of School!

Declan has his first day of 2nd grade on Tuesday! He was very excited about school because his best friend is in his class. He is very tired after the first week of school, but it seems to be going well.
Isaac's first day of Kindergarten was Wednesday. He was also excited because his best friend is in his class and he has the same teacher Declan had in Kindergarten. Isaac has a hard time with people he doesn't know and doing new things, so having the same teacher as his brother was a blessing for us. I know it won't happen every year, but it helped us for this year. He is also exhausted after his 1st week of school, but he has a lot of fun.

Their mother, on the otherhand, had a very hard time sending her children to school this year. She doesn't think she is old enough for her baby to be starting Kindergarten. She was very sad on Wednesday, but each day is getting easier to have them gone all day. It sure if fun to see them grow up and learn new things, but then again it is sad.

Happy Anniversary, Jeff!

Yesterday was our 9th wedding anniversary. It is hard to believe 9 years has gone by and where did they go? A lot has changed since then and we would not do a thing different. Happy Anniversary, Jeff! Let's have many more wonderful years!
Love,
Cyndi

No cool titles today, brain isn't working

Here is Declan and Isaac and Declan's friend with friend's dog checking out the hardwood floors with the cool paint. We are so excited our vision turned out so well and cannot wait to move in. We are being told the middle of Oct. is the move in date. We still have the main level and basement level to get painted. I am sure finishing work will get started on the upper level soon.
Here is another view of the floors, but I didn't realize I got the puppy's behind in this picture, sorry. It is our friend's new puppy and her son brings it over to our house when he comes to play with Declan. Lola (puppy) and Juno (our dog) are becoming buddies.
The guys also got started on the front porch yesterday. It needs some massive beams, but it will look nice. We saw them starting to put the boards on the floor of the porch today.
Another view of the beams for the porch. I forgot my camera today for the first time since this project started, so you will have to wait for the finished product picture on the porch.
It sounds like the tile for the master bathroom will be in tomorrow, so he will be starting on that tomorrow. I cannot wait to see what that is going to look like.

Lots of Progress

Declan will finally take a picture with his squares because they are done. They look awesome and he loves them.
Isaac's stripes are also done and they look really cool! He is so excited to have a new room.
This is the upper level sitting room that will have the steel floor in the turret. You can sort of see the cedar ceiling above. We did a color called Sierra Redwood in a leather finish. It looks amazing! Our painters did a wonderful job on this after she was told by another experienced painter, "Good luck on the leather." I guess she was told it is very hard and you have to work very fast to make it look good. She did not want to give up because she liked our idea and I am very glad she didn't. We love it!
This is the laundry room with the vinyl flooring installed.
Here is a sneak peak of the flooring in the kids' bathroom. I am not totally sure why he covered it up unless he thought it needed to be painted. We left the walls this color because they have to pick out what kind of fish theme they want in their bathroom.
The siding is now completely done. They were short a few pieces for this peak and had to order more. I guess they order short on purpose so there isn't any left laying around. It is too expensive to have extras we were told. I don't mind the money savings.

Paint and stuff

A few of the blocks for done yesterday in Declan's room. You can see 3 of the colors because the Irish Cream is the base color with the Tamarind (brown) and then the green. The other color that needs to be added will be the Chalkboard paint.
The stripes are 1/2 done in Isaac's room.
Here is what our bedroom will look like. The purple wall will be at the head of our bed, the Tamarind will be the other 3 walls, and then the tray will be the Dried Thyme (green). We did many trials with the 3 colors on the tray and this is the only things that looks the best.
Here is what the kids were building last night while we were giving our neighbor a tour of the house. They were so good and we were very proud.
This is my craft room again and the guys got the ceiling started around the heating ducts. You can see a part of my big window on the left.
